Cross Country Skiing In And Around Killington Vermont

There are two ways to explore the beautiful mountain terrain on cross country skis in the Killington area. You can either venture out on your own and forge your own trails or you can visit a touring center where the trails will be clearly marked and groomed. There are two nearby touting centers:Mountain Meadows in Killington and Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden.

Mountain Meadows offers over 55 km of trails and boasts an advanced snowmaking system on 2.5km of its trails. Mountain Meadows offers a wide variety of skiing options; There are some wonderful beginner and intermediate trails close to Kent pond and on the other side of the Pond, there are more advanced trails to enjoy. The 1.5k White Trail, otherwise known as the snowmaking trail always has snow and is groomed. The trails vary in length from 1.5K to 15K with beautiful woods and/or pond views. Although much of the trails seems suited for the beginner or intermediate, the large loop will prove enjoyable and challenging to all abiltiy levels. You will get very nice views of Pico and Killington at different points and the serenity of Kent Pond cannot be beat.

Mountain Top Inn and Resort is located just outside of Killington in Chittenden. It features over 80 km of trais including snowmaking on about 3 km of trails. You will be sure to enjoy spectacular views of the Chittenden Resevoir and the surrounding woods and vistas, a real treat. Plenty of intermediate terrain but advanced skiers will not be dissapointed.
